WWW (19) and Waiting on Wednesday (November 16th, 2011) Double Feature

W. W. W. Wednesday is hosted by Should Be Reading a great blog that I subscribe to. Here's how it works... Each Wednesday I will answer the following questions:

What are you currently reading?

What did you recently finish reading?

What do you think you'll read next?

I've had a slow week reading this week.  I just haven't quite had something grab me in a way that has made me drop everything to keep reading.  I've been spoiled these past few weeks, I guess...  That's not to say I haven't been enjoying what I've been reading, because I have, I just haven't been totally gripped into anything.  Actually, it's probably a good thing; my house is getting some much needed attention...

What are you currently reading?

Pretty Crooked by Elisa Ludwig~ I'm buddy reading this with my daughter and it's really, REALLY cute.  Definitely a winner!  Make sure to pick this up when it comes out on March 13th, 2012.
Birthmarked by Caragh O'Brien~ I am finally getting to this book after a slow start, and it's very good.  I'm almost finished and I have to say that although it was a little slow to start, this far in I'm pained having to set it down to write this post.  Great sign!  I'll likely be right on to the newly released sequel, Prized.

What did you recently finish reading?

The Night Circus by Erin Morganstern~ Um, yeah.  I haven't posted my review yet because I am still digesting this book.  You really do need to read it if you haven't.  It's fabulous. (Although I did find this one a little slow to start too.)
The Spiderwick Chronicles, #1: The Field Guide by Holly Black and Tony DeTerlizzi~ Buddy reading this series with my son.  Loved it when I read it with Emma, still loving it.  I adore Holly Black!

What do you think you'll read next?

Away by Teri Hall~ I really liked the first book, The Line, and have been looking forward to reading this.  It's been sitting on my night table, pleading for me to read it, so it's probably time.
Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi~ This is a long awaited title for me, and it just came out, so I'm on it!  The advance reviews have been spectacular!  Can't wait!

"Waiting On" Wednesday is another fun blog event. Hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, this event gives us a chance to talk about the books we anxiously await the release of. Since there is ALWAYS a looooooong list of books I'm waiting on (I actually keep a spreadsheet), I figured this is one that I MUST do.

So, there have been some great cover reveals of late, and I always get excited for them, being the cover whore that I am.  I was surprised to see that my choice for this week hadn't gotten more attention since the author tweeted the cover a couple of weeks ago.  So, without further ado, my Waiting on Wednesday choice is...

Underworld (Abandon Trilogy, #2) by Meg Cabot

Seventeen-year-old Pierce Oliviera isn't dead.

Not this time.

But she is being held against her will in the dim, twilit world between heaven and hell, where the spirits of the deceased wait before embarking upon their final journey.

Her captor, John Hayden, claims it's for her own safety. Because not all the departed are dear. Some are so unhappy with where they ended up after leaving the Underworld, they've come back as Furies, intent on vengeance . . . on the one who sent them there and on the one whom he loves.

But while Pierce might be safe from the Furies in the Underworld, far worse dangers could be lurking for her there . . . and they might have more to do with its ruler than with his enemies.

And unless Pierce is careful, this time there'll be no escape.

I love Meg Cabot!  I read her chick-lit long before I got into YA, and I've really adored just about everything I've read by her.  I know Abandon had its haters, but I really loved it (read my review HERE)!  I've been anxiously awaiting the release of the second book in the trilogy (and there's still a painfully long wait ahead).  When Meg tweeted this cover a few weeks ago, I got so excited.  Not only does it make the book feel real, but the cover is GORGEOUS!  Love the color so much!  Only 6 months left to go until it hits shelves!

Thanks for visiting my blog! I adore comments since they make me feel special and loved, just please don't spam me. I'm not interested in vacation offers, millions of dollars from Nigeria, or anything not book related!

Also, this is an award-free blog. As flattered as I am, I just don't have time. I'm happy if I have time to post all of my reviews on time, and am a momma of three to boot, but I appreciate the thoughts! XO
