WWW (28) and Waiting on Wednesday (March 14th, 2012): The Paladin Prophecy by Mark Frost

W. W. W. Wednesday is hosted by Should Be Reading a great blog that I subscribe to. Here's how it works... Each Wednesday I will answer the following questions:

What are you currently reading?

What did you recently finish reading?

What do you think you'll read next?

I'm having a good reading week.  I've read a couple of really good books over the past week, and I'm reading a couple of great ones now.  Also, I got to go to an event this past Saturday featuring Lauren Oliver, Dan Wells, and Claudia Gray, so I have some awesome upcoming prospects.  Honestly, I have a little too much of a good thing right now.  Wait, never mind.  That's not really possible...

What are you currently reading?

Purity by Jackson Pearce~ I'm a Jackson Pearce fangirl, and I am thrilled to be reading an ARC of this book, her first Contemporary.  So far, I am really enjoying it.  It's such a far stretch from what I am used to out of her, but it is really good.  Stay tuned for my review.  It releases April 24th.
Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan~ I know I'm late to the party with this one, but better late than never.  I love this book.  I'm almost finished, and I'm feeling a fantastic sense of satisfaction with where it has gone so far.  I love David Levithan, so I expected no less.
Farmer Boy by Laura Ingalls Wilder~ I'm reading this one to my littlest daughter.  It's probably the 4th or 5th times I've read it, and it never gets old.  I think this is my favorite book in the Little House series.
Spell Bound by Rachel Hawkins~ I'm buddy-reading this with my older daughter.  We just read Hex Hall and Demonglass, and have been eagerly awaiting the release of this book. It came out yesterday, and we were on it!  We are only two chapters in, and it will be painful to read this book at that pace, but I promised I wouldn't go ahead...

What did you recently finish reading?

Another Jekyll, Another Hyde by Daniel & Dina Nayeri~ I liked Another Faust (read my review HERE), but I thought this blew it out of the water.  I really, REALLY liked this one.  I couldn't put it down, and ended up devouring it in about two days.  Now I need to read the middle book, Another Pan, to fill in a few blanks.  Review coming soon.  This book releases March 27th.

Demonglass by Rachel Hawkins~ As I mentioned above, I read this as a buddy-read with my daughter.  I loved it even more than I loved Hex Hall, and am thrilled that I didn;t have to wait a year for Spell Bound.  Sometimes it pays to be late to the party!  :)  Full review coming soon.
Bloodrose by Andrea Cremer~ I don't know why everyone hated the ending so much.  There were some parts that I didn't love in the book (well, really, just one), but I was over it by the end, and I was actually pretty happy with how Andrea wrapped the trilogy up.  Review to come.

Me and Earl and the Dying Girl by Jesse Andrews~ The. Funniest. Book. EVER.  This is a must-read for anyone who likes to laugh (as longa s you're not offended by profanity).  Seriously, I had tears rolling down my face most of the time I was reading this from laughing so hard.  Read my review HERE.

What do you think you'll read next?

Croak by Gina Damico~ This book comes out on the 20th, so I need to read it for review soon.  It looks really good, and I've been looking forward to it for awhile, plus this s adebut author, and I love reading debuts.
Starters by Lissa Price~ This came out yesterday, so I'm a little behind on my review books, but I'm really excited to read this.  It will probably be next.

Wanderlove by Kirsten Hubbard~ Another book that released yesterday.  I've heard a lot of amazing things about this book, so I'm really excited to finally read it!

Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver~ Now that I finally have my (signed- SQUEE!) copy, I'm excited to read it, although I know I'm just going to be frustrated when I have to wait a year for book #3, Requiem.  I happen to have another signed copy of this book as a GIVEAWAY, so make sure you sign up!

"Waiting On" Wednesday is another fun blog event. Hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, this event gives us a chance to talk about the books we anxiously await the release of. Since there is ALWAYS a looooooong list of books I'm waiting on (I actually keep a spreadsheet), I figured this is one that I MUST do.

The next few weeks are going to be awesome for WoWs because Penguin just released their Fall 2012 catalog, and there are some great upcoming books in it.   However, not all the covers have been revealed, so I'm holding off on some of those.  In the meantime, here's one that I am thrilled about...

The Paladin Prophecy by Mark Frost

Will West is careful to live life under the radar. At his parents' insistence, he's made sure to get mediocre grades and to stay in the middle of the pack on his cross-country team. Then Will slips up, accidentally scoring off the charts on a nationwide exam.

Now Will is being courted by an exclusive prep school . . . and is being followed by men driving black sedans. When Will suddenly loses his parents, he must flee to the school. There he begins to explore all that he's capable of--physical and mental feats that should be impossible--and learns that his abilities are connected to a struggle between titanic forces that has lasted for millennia.

Co-creator of the groundbreaking television series Twin Peaks, Mark Frost brings his unique vision to this sophisticated adventure, which combines mystery, heart-pounding action, and the supernatural.

So, if you're a member of the demographic that YA is targeted to, the name Mark Frost might not mean anything to you.  However, if you are in the 32-45 year old range, like me, you are probably like, "Holy Crap! Mark Frost? Wasn't he one of the amazingly talented writers of the epic, albeit short-lived TV show, Twin Peaks?", to which I would say, "Why yes!  He is!  And now he has written a YA novel, which will no doubt be brilliant and epic itself."  Yes, I am excited for this book, which I have in possession as I write this.  I will probably read this way before I should because it is burning a hole in my bookshelf, I'm so excited!!

Thanks for visiting my blog! I adore comments since they make me feel special and loved, just please don't spam me. I'm not interested in vacation offers, millions of dollars from Nigeria, or anything not book related!

Also, this is an award-free blog. As flattered as I am, I just don't have time. I'm happy if I have time to post all of my reviews on time, and am a momma of three to boot, but I appreciate the thoughts! XO
